Dear President of the United States of America,
I’m writing this email with regard to the multiple school shootings that have been happening in your country for so many years.
In my opinion, guns should be forbidden everywhere because people seem not to be responsible to own one. Around 30,000 people die every year because of guns.
Firstly, for me, the first step is reducing the easy access to guns. For example, take them out of common stores. Taking guns away from 18-year-olds and even younger people or others with mental problems can minimize the number of people owning guns. Reducing firearm access to youth and individuals who are at risk of harming themselves or others can bring awareness to this problem.
Secondly, expanding access to high-quality, culturally competent, coordinated, social, emotional, and mental health supports and addressing the impact of trauma is another great way to get to know these people and what is going on inside their heads. Requiring a certain level of knowledge about guns may provide for a better society and reduce the numb er of teens with easy access to them.
School shootings traumatize kids for the rest of their lives, we can’t let people think that they have the power to destroy them. These laws are simple but necessary to end gun violence in the USA and the rest of the world. Simple things lead to great achievements.
Thank you for your attention,
Kind regards,
Marta Bentes
